Emotions - Day 2: Today I want to explore the emotion of Sad/Sadness and what it looks like on the face of both Men and Women.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Sadness is another type of emotion often defined as a transient emotional state characterized by feelings of disappointment, grief, hopelessness, disinterest, and dampened mood.
Like other emotions, sadness is something that all people experience from time to time. In some cases, people can experience prolonged and severe periods of sadness that can turn into depression. Sadness can be expressed in a number of ways, including:
Crying
Dampened mood
Lethargy
Quietness
Withdrawal from others
The type and severity of sadness can vary depending upon the root cause, and how people cope with such feelings can also differ.
Sadness can often lead people to engage in coping mechanisms such as avoiding other people, self-medicating, and ruminating on negative thoughts. Such behaviors can actually exacerbate feelings of sadness and prolong the duration of the emotion.

This one I found of particular interest. Despite different embellishments that the prompt created on each of the subjects faces, I was quite surprised at the differing results between the men and the women.
In the case of the man his appearance is more disheveled, he appears more unkept. The bottom right man picture is the best representation I feel as you can the emotion more prominently displayed in his expression. The sides of the mouth are more turned down, the eyes are tired and sunken. Maybe this is because men typically feel they have to stay strong all the time and not show emotion.
On the other hand when it comes to the woman her appearance is better kept together, she appears to be taking better care of herself despite the emotion she is feeling. Top right I really feel is showing the emotion best. He eyes appear darker, you can see the bags under her eyes and the sides of her mouth are turned down much more then the rest.
Women are typically the ones who show their emotions much more. This does not mean they are weak, in fact they are quite strong. In this case I feel women handle Sad/Sadness better then men do as they allow the emotion and the physiological effects to happen. They will cry and let it out and then they move on and do what needs to be done(Maybe after some ice cream - I'm just kidding lol)

What are your thoughts on this emotion and my interpretation of the images? Do you agree or disagree with me? Why? Id love to hear your thoughts.
