Since there was a lot of interest in Ethos invites from the Arena community and a lot of people didn't know what it was but were interested... I will do my best to explain it.
Ethos is an on-chain credibility and reputation platform driven by peer-to-peer reviews.
The goal is to help people be able to identify who is trustworthy and who is not in a space that is very often hard to navigate and full of scammers and grifters.
Ethos operates through four core mechanisms that work to build and maintain credibility scores.
1. Reviews: People can leave positive, negative or neutral reviews for ANY account on X.
Reviews from high-credibility users carry more weight, and the system reduces the impact of spammy or biased reviews.
2. Vouches: This is where the bread and meat of Ethos is and the best way to get a higher credibility score.
So, users can stake ETH to vouch for others, the more ETH staked the bigger the boost to the vouched user's score.
BUT if whoever you vouched for steps out of line, does something shady and people decide to slash them you risk your score and the eth you vouched.
Mutual vouches give the biggest score boost to the parties involved.
3. Slashing: If someone is naughty other people can initiate a "slash" against their credibility score.
To initiate a slash, you have to be able to provide proof of what the person you are accusing did wrong, the community then can vote for or against the slash.
If the slash goes trough, the person accused loses credibility, if it doesn't the accuser does.
4. Attestation: People can link a variety of social accounts and apps to make sure everyone using the platform is who they claim to be.
To be able to leave reviews at a minimum you have to connect a wallet and your X account. After that you have the option of connecting Discord, Telegram, Farcaster, Github and LinkedIn.
(The Arena is not an option at the moment but if enough people here show interest I'm confident we can make it happen.)
How do you join?
At the moment, anyone can go and look at the website and read all the reviews... BUT if you want to be a user you do need an invite.
Invites are extremely difficult to come by because people's credibility scores are tied to whoever they invite for a period of 80 days, so usually users choose to only invite people they are familiar with to some extent.
A good way to get an invite is to join the Discord and hang out for a bit, showing genuine interest in the platform and getting to know people.
IF YOU GO IN THERE AND SAY "CAN I HAVE AN INVITE" NO ONE WILL GIVE IT TO YOU, YOU MIGHT GET MADE FUN OF EVEN. DON'T DO IT.
Another cool feature is the "Reputation Market", where you can trade trust or distrust tokens tied to a profile's credibility score.
I don't know much about that aspect of the platform because I've never really spent time looking into it but degens love degening so I'm sure most people in web3 like it.
You can check out the website here:

I hope this was helpful and if any of you have any questions I will do my best to answer!
If you join the Discord you can ping me in there and we can chat, I'd love that.
